Description: Extract from the City Plan... 10.16.1 PURPOSE OF THE DESIGNATIONS PROVISIONS Organisations that are ?requiring authorities,? and able to apply and use designations include Ministers of the Crown, local authorities and also private bodies identified as network utility operators within the RMA. These organisations have status as a requiring authority under section 167 of the RMA. Status as a requiring authority provides the power to require land, including private land, to be set aside for designated activities for which works can be undertaken and the requiring authority is financially responsible. The effect of designating land is to authorise the use of that land for a particular work (e.g., a school, police station or electricity substation). Once a designation is in place it takes precedence over the zoning of the land. Designations that exist within the City are listed in Appendix 10B: Designations, and are identified on the Plan Maps, (Part B)..

Description: Wednesday 23 May 2012 by Rex ----------------------------- 1) Received 100m buffer taken from the painted edge of the State Highway from NZTA as Mapinfo files (via Chrissy gisamap.ltd@xtra.co.nz). 2) Converted the Mapinfo files and merged all buffer polygons. I also added to the 100m buffer data, Takitimu Drive (Route K) and Te Maunga Lane, Te Maunga Way designation and northern arterial designation.3) I created a data called UseToCutBuffer which I use to clip the buffer data. The UseToCutBuffer is made of; - Rail designations (no road designations as these are lines) - Road zone - Industrial zone - Port Industrial zone - Tauriko Industrial zone - Baypark Special Use - Active Open Space - Passive Open Space - Active Open Space - Major - Conservation zone - Greenbelt zone 4) Using the UseToCutBuffer I clipped the NZTANoiseBuffer and KiwiRailNoiseBuffer 5) Minor edits to the following (see Q:\GeospatialMaps\458700-458799\458765\data\pdfedits) R13 R17 R19 R20 R22 R23 R25 R26 R33 R34 R35 R37 R42 R43 R50 R51 R57 R66 R71 R80

Description: 3,452 polygons covering all of TCC land indicating Planning Zones. Zoning is a device of land use regulation used by local governments. The word is derived from the practice of designating permitted uses of land based on mapped zones which separate one set of land uses from another. Zoning may be use-based (regulating the uses to which land may be put), or it may regulate building height, lot coverage, and similar characteristics, or some combination of these. New Zealand's planning system is grounded in effects-based Performance Zoning under the Resource Management Act. The sea ward boundary of these Planning Zone polygons are matched to the Mean High Water Springs line created in 2009. Refer to the City Plan Maps Key for Zone colours.
